About Us
Darkride Diary allows you to record when you rode which dark rides. This provides various statistics such as how many parks or countries you have visited, how many rides you have ridden in a category, and many more. Additionally, you can compete with your friends or other users in various leaderboards.
The 3 Categories
Darkride
A "Darkride" is a ride that contains a transport system that moves passengers through a building. During the ride, you must pass through at least one scene. Except for the station, only small parts of the track may be outside the building.
Semi-Darkride
A "Semi-Darkride" is structured like a normal dark ride, with the difference that a large part of the ride or track (depending on the ride) takes place outdoors or outside a building.
Show-Ride
A "Show-Ride" has no transport system. While guests may be moved, they do not travel along a track through a building. This includes: Madhouse, Flying Theatre, and Simulator.
The 7 Subgroups
Car Ride
Ride with individual vehicles or a chain of 2 vehicles. Can travel on the ground, or suspended, on rails, or trackless.
Train Ride
Ride with a chain of more than 2 vehicles.
Boat Ride
Ride where the vehicles are in the water.
Tower Ride
Ride where guests are moved vertically.
Omnimover
Ride with a chain of many gondolas forming an endless loop.
Madhouse
A large swing in a rotating room to create the illusion of hanging upside down.
Flying Theatre
Cinema with a large curved screen where guests sit in multiple rows in front of the screen and watch movies that convey the feeling of flying.
What We Don't Count
We intentionally omitted a few categories as we believe these rides deviate too much from our definition of a Darkride:
- 3D/4D/XD Cinema
- Revolving Theatre
- Interactive Theatre
- Roller Coaster
- Simulator
How to Enter Ridden Rides?
Rules
It is important to us that every user adheres to the following rules to ensure fairness and fun in counting:
- You may only enter rides that you have actually ridden.
- Whenever possible, ALWAYS specify a ride date. If you no longer remember the exact date, you can enter only the month or only the year. You should only leave the date blank if you really cannot remember.
- Under no circumstances may you have more than one account simultaneously. If you forget your login details, you can contact us at any time or reset your password. Forgot Password?
Step by Step
- Everywhere a darkride is displayed on the page, you will find a checkbox in the table on the left with which you can enter the counter. (see Legend)
- When you click on it, a window opens where you can enter the ride date.
- You can edit or delete entered counters at any time.
